I loved the design by MacNite, but wanted to show off those beautiful E3D heatsinks! So I took his design and re-mixed it so that the fans would mount on the back and the E3D heatsinks would be shown in all their glory...
Note that even with my changes, the mount can still be mounted the way that MacNite designed it - it's really your choice. ;-)
I also made the following improvements:
- Modified the mount so that both hotends are adjustable about 2mm in total, making leveling quite a bit easier.
- Increased the wire 'tunnel' size a bit to make wire routing a little easier.
- Added a fin to force about 60% of the air to the lower portion of the heatsink for better cooling (where it needs it the most)
- Shrunk the mounting holes for the fans a little bit so that M3 screws will thread right into the plastic with no need for long screws and nuts for the fans.
Note: I re-used the CTC Heater Blocks, Heaters and Thermocouples from the original CTC hotends, but used everything else from the E3D [clone] Hotends (IE: E3D Heatsinks, E3D All Metal Heat Brakes and E3D Nozzles)
7/19/2016 - I added a couple of re-mixes of the Bowden Coupling mount for PC4-M6 couplings. There are two designs - one simply has a 2mm path for the filament, the other has a 4mm path in order to mount a piece of 4mm OD PTFE tubing in the end to extend all the way to the extruder's gear & bearing. (Make sure to use a drill bit to clean up the inner surface!. ;-) )
Note that these are UNTESTED - so if you print and use them, let me know if they work out well so that I can update this text.
