Jan 15, 2020 update: V2 update is now much easier to print. There are two options for the interior. Try Flying_Sub-interior-split+support-fixed first. If that version (which includes built-in support) is too difficult, use the "Flying_sub_interior_x2-easy print-plated" option, which requires a little more gluing and assembly.

Jan 16, 2020 update: Added "Flying_sub_interior_v2+support-plated" option, which includes pre-rendered support for easier printing. (Raft is recommended for all parts.)

Jan 16 update #2: Replaced top & bottom shells with higher-quality versions. Flying_Sub_shells+support_v2.stl. All files are now confirmed to slice correctly.

The two parts of the Flying sub top and bottom shells are intended to be separate--hence the visible gap between the parts. These shells have built-in support that you will need to remove before assembly. They should fit snugly together when the model is assembled.

And, if you just want an easy-to-print model without a detailed interior, print the one-piece mode, oriented as shown. It is an easy print and looks great with just a little painting, as shown in the photo.

The original model (attributed to Tobz) was created by sgillford_at_gmail.com. I made numerous modifications to make it printable.

I used NetFabb and Microsoft 3D Builder to create and fix the parts. These parts are fully manifold and should be printable without issue.

I recommend printing the top and bottom shell pieces in yellow and the interior (and optional lower hatch) in gray or silver.

The picture is of my first printed version (made solid with MeshMixer, then printed with 0% infill and 3 shells in GP3D Yellow PLA on a Replicator 2), with the interior details and lights Photoshopped in. This inspired me to actually produce a detailed interior. The hatch on the bottom is separate, and covers a hole for a display stand (like this one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1299040). It might also look good emerging from a splash like this one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:192007.

The lower shell has holes for lights and there's plenty of room inside the shell for the necessary wiring, so go for it!

The chairs and people shown in the photo are not included. Yet.

Print the one-piece model as shown in the last photo with 0% infill, 3 shells, raft and support ON.
