Description
This is an enclosure for the 7" Waveshare 1024x600 HDMI capacitive touch LCD screen v2.1 designed for use with a 3D printer with OctoPrint with the TouchUI plugin.
The mount assembly is kind of garbage but the enclosure stands on its own, the mount is only there to provide a magnetic anchor so the LCD doesn't vibrate off the table.
The idea is that the LCD is attached to a Pi via the HDMI and USB cables and is able to be picked up, worked with, and returned to the table in front of the printer. The bezels on the side are intentionally large to allow a good grip without interfering with the touchscreen.
Use right angle connectors to route the cables through the back. I used HDMI 270 degree adapter with an Ultraslim HDMI cable and micro USB down angle cable.
Automatic backlight control can be added via a one-wire mod.
