Yet another power supply cover!

Yes, I know, there are already many power supply covers that have been published on thingiverse. I checked them all out, but did not find what I really had in mind for my DIY RepRap, that's why I ended up designing one more from scratch - so please forgive me ;)

This cover is for a standard 360W 12V/30A "cheap" power supply, as can be found on eBay for under US$ 30. Besides the printed cover itself, I used the following additional components:

• 1pc standard IEC320 C14 AC inlet power socket
• 1pc mini on-off rocker switch 3A 250V 15mm x 11mm (KCD1)
• 3 pcs large Molex 19-09-2029 female 2-pin power connectors
• 1pc small 3-digit LED voltmeter (less than $2 on eBay)
• 4 pcs M3 screws and screw nuts

I already had the 2-pin Molex female connectors (and the male counterpart 19-09-1029) from old projects. I am not sure how easily they are still available today (although Farnell still lists them). But these are very similar to the "large Tamiya connectors", sold cheaply on eBay, which should fit here as well. Note that there are holes and channels that can be used to fasten the Molex connectors with small cable ties. But in my case, the connector fitted so tightly that no further fastening was needed.

I like the little voltmeter, so I can not only see that the power supply is on, but I actually see the current voltage. This is especially useful since I like turn up the voltage to about 14V (which BTW makes quite a difference when starting up the heatbed!).

The provided SCAD file is parametrized and commented, so that it is easy to make adjustments, if needed. There are two STL files, one containing just the cover, the other with additional anti-warp disks on the corners and explicit auxiliary support to help bridging the window for the voltmeter. The latter are shown in red on one of the pictures, obviously they need to be cut away after printing.

Update 2014-01-27: I have uploaded an updated version 2 of this project which provides and air grid for better ventilation, clips for retaining the Molex connectors and the possibility to make the voltage adjustment trimpot accessible from the outside.

Update 2014-08-30: Please note that in the updated version 2 of this project there are now SCAD and STL files which are specially made for Tamiya instead of Molex connectors.

Update 2017-10-24: I just uploaded a 3rd version of this project which has a separate car fuse holder for each of the power outlets, so that each attached device can be protected with a separate blade fuse of the proper value.

Update 2018-12-17: There is now a smaller, more compact version of the 12V/30A power supply on the market, so I have published today a new version of this project adapted to new small form factor device.
