This is a remix of the "Alternate fan mount system" found here http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1734379
Because I use the original Sparkcube X-carriage, I redesigned the fan mount plate.
You can easily adjust the height of the plate to match the length of your hotend.
I use 2 x 50mm radial fan (blower fan)
I use a E3D Lite6 and it is mounted underneath the X-carriage. For cooling the hotend, I use a 40mm fan (fanduct can be found on thingiverse).
You can use the fan duct of the origin thing or use one of the attached fan ducts. Because the initial fan duct seems to be too short for my hotend, I designed different variants. Also I increased the height of the fan duct mount flag.
- Sparkcube_Radial_Fan_duct_long_wide_23mm is a longer version, the inner distance of tubes is 23mm. It is very close to the heater block of E3D Lite6-
- Sparkcube_Radial_Fan_duct_long_wide_30mm is also a longer version, but the space between the tubes is 30mm wide.
- Sparkcube_Radial_Fan_duct_30mm is a ring cooler with an internal diameter of approx. 30mm
- Sparkcube_Radial_Fan_duct_30mm_incr_gap has the same size than the 30mm ring version. But the gap where the air exits is small at beginning and larger at the end (see drawings)
- Sparkcube_Radial_Fan_duct_40mm is another ring cooler with an internal diameter of approx 40mm. This fits good around my heater block
- Sparkcube_Radial_Fan_duct_40mm_flat has the same dimensions like 40mm versions, but the tube is more flat. This was necessary to me because my 40mm fan mount collids with the fan duct 5.
Assembly:
- First print Sparkcube_Radial_Fan_mount file and one of the fan duct files.
- Unscrew the sparkcube hotend cooler, use the screws of it to attach the mounting plate on X-carriage
- Attach your blower fans. Use a hand drill to create holes where you need them (there are different versions of blower fans out there)
- Attach the fan duct by just press the blower fan tubes into the fan duct.
- Use screws or a zip tie to fix the fan duct. Just drill a hole on the "flag" part of fan duct. At fast moves, the fan duct may fall off so please fix it as described.
UPDATE:
- 2016-12-06: 40mm fan duct versions are now more strong and are easier to print.
