Description
This is a simple mount for a 18mm OD Inductive Bed probe such as: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008FZC8F2
I was able to get this probe to work with the Stock Borosilicate Glass build plate and the aluminum plate below on the MakerGear M2. - Your results may vary, and I take no responsibility for damage to printers or wasted money if you cannot get it to work on your printer.
Typical Inductive probes only have a 4mm sense distance (when used with steel) and will not work with the Stock MakerGear M2 Glass. This Larger probe (18mm OD) has a 8mm Sense distance (With steel) and works for me for Auto bed leveling on the M2
This modification will require a firmware modification, to enable the inductive probe for use as a Z endstop, and to enable the Auto Bed leveling routine.
This modification will aslo require the use of two (or more) resistors to create a 5V output (using a Voltage Divider) from the sensor for input into the Control board. The resistor values will vary based on the supply voltage to the probe.
For example in my 24V system i used a 20kohm and a 5Kohm resistor to create a voltage divider to create approximately 4.8v.
I suggest watching Tom's Guide on auto bed leveling, available on Youtube:
(Tom Sanladerer) search for 3D printing guides: Setting up auto bed tramming leveling tilt compensation!
The "emmrev3_ridged_side_flat_for_zprobe.STL" file is directly from the MakerGear Github Repository at [https://github.com/MakerGear/M2/tree/master/Experimental Parts/Z Probe for auto-level], I have included it here for convenience. All credit for the part goes to the MakerGear Team.
