Chain Projects

As stated this is a work in progress. There are a lot of files because I decided to include the individual chain links so people can arrange them on their own if they want, I've been making these in Tinkercad and using Slic3r to make STL's that I slice in Cura. I've tried to label the files clearly, hopefully everything correctly, and I'll point out a few of the files to look for.

The picture shows the Heart Ver 2 file after it's been broken apart, it's the larger longer piece. It was printed with links at about 7mm high). The heart file came out in pieces when I got the links moving, it's an interesting pixelated looking heart shape when whole. It was far more stuck together than the Ver 1 file provided, the links have less clearance, I think I'll make another version with cutouts and larger eyes. It may not have broken apart if I hadn't been in the middle of machine calibration and some hardware troubleshooting while it was printing.

The smaller piece in the picture is the "Four Walls Linked Ver 1 Works" file. As stated, it works. Links were much easier to get moving than Ver 2. The version pictured has approx 6mm high links.

The Frill Pill files are just now being tested and I expect them to be very nice, except that I'm having trouble figuring out how to make turns with them, so currently can only make a straight line. Hopefully I'll have a picture of them soon. "4x40mmStableFrillPillVerLinkChain" has a short chain of Frill Pill V2 links and is the test file I'm printing (with a brim).

With some work maybe these could be passable fashion accessories, but for me they're just a novelty and design challenge at the moment.

Update: I successfully printed Frill Pill and added a photo. It was a low resolution print (.2MM resolution), which I think helped prevent it from tipping over but of course means it doesn't look as nice as it could.

Update: Added a horizontal Frill Pill file. Likely needs support more than the 45 degree angle ones. I haven't used the 60 degree links yet.

Update: Added some complete chains for frill pill. "cross" makes a cat or small dog sized necklace. BigVer2Good is untested but may hopefully fit a person, who knows.
