Description

So I was watching this youtube video about making a quail call out of a stick and a rubber band. Which I am doing, and will finish it eventually. Then I thought I would try a 3d printed one as well. So I designed it on TinkerCAD. I made two designs. One has guides to hold the two halves together straight. The first one does not. (UPDATE the one with the guides I've ditched for now.) Whichever one you choose you will have to print two of them and put them together. I also designed in a ring for an o-ring to hold them together straight. Just in case you are so inclined as to hunt down an o-ring the appropriate size. I also included the oring if you want to 3d print one out of flexible material.

UPDATE I temporarily removed one of the designs (the one with the guides on it. Until I can get the first one tested and perfected. I actually don't think it's necessary so I'm ditching that one for now. My first design was a bit too big, so I made it smaller, and I also made the blow hole smaller, it was too big too.

I've perfected the design, I think for now anyway. It sounds pretty spot on, but I haven't had the chance to take it into the bush yet. In the picture I show that I've used o-rings to fasten one side and a rubber band to fasten the other. This is to just to show that you can do either and they work equally well. I also use a strip of "Theraband Gold" for the reed. That's because I have some on hand for my sling shots and I can cut them to any width and length. It works pretty well, but you should be able to use rubber bands just as well, a nice thick one methinks.

You'll need to watch the video to see how and what to make a reed out of.

Here are the TinkerCAD files...
