This is a slide on set of gripper/extensions that fit onto the [OWI-535 Robotic Arm Edge](https://www.amazon.com/OWI-OWI-535-Robotic-Arm-Edge/dp/B0017OFRCY/) to allow for easier collection of pennies for the 2017 division C Science Olympiad. It should be fully rules complaint but check dimensions before using this design. The OWI Penny Gripper requires no modification to the OWI-535, adds about 15 mm to the reach, and should gives the OWI-535 the ability to grab a stack of pennies up to 30 mm in heights. The griper should be able to grab other things then pennies but pennies is what it was designed to deal with. Also included is a variant of the baseline OWI-535 Penny Gripper that will work if you have an older bot with the thicker foam on the end effector. This design requires the original foam to be installed. Design Project: Project Apollo ==================================================================== Printed Parts needed: 2x OWI Adapter bolt (or OWI Adapter bolt Deep) 2x Gripper Mid 30mm ==================================================================== Hardware Needed: 2x M3x16 Bolts https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W97MTII/ 4x M3 nuts https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NBIH92/ Some [3ALink Sound Dampening Mat](http://www.xoxide.com/sounabmat.html) ==================================================================== Info on Installing: 1. Feed the M3x16 blots through the concave side of the Gripper Mid 30mm and push the bolt head into the part until it is flush with he concave side of the part, see picture above. 2. Feed the M3x16 bolt with the Gripper Mid 30mm on it through the hole on the OWI Adapter bolt (or OWI Adapter bolt Deep) so that the Gripper Mid 30mm cannot freely rotate, see picture above. 3. Install two M3 nuts onto the end of the M3x16 bolt, see picture above. Use the two nut to either lock the position of the grippers or allow them to self level somewhat by locking the nuts away from the plastic. 4. Install foam to the concave side of the Gripper Mid 30mm as needed. ==================================================================== Info on the Design: The OWI-535 Penny gripper a simple, no modification required, add on for the OWI-535 that gives it the ability to pick up more then a few pennies at a time. Fortunately it had the side effect of adding just enough length to the OWI-535 with the [OWI-535 Gamma Mods](http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2056033) to reach the north pennies in the 2017 version of the Robot Arm event from Science Olympiad. The adapter is designed to fight tightly on the original foam of the OWI-535. Some minor sanding may be required to make it easier to slide on. The OWI-535 Penny Gripper should not slide off under normal operations. If it does, then the adapter may have been over sanded or you need to use the base line adapter instead of the deep variant. Note: At time of upload, the design has not been tested in competition and has no guarantee of performance.
