Housing for Lifecam HD-3000
A slim camera housing that fits into the Qidi Avatar IV, FlashForge Creator and similar printers. It is looking down to the build plate, tilted down by 9°.
Additional requirements:
- Microsoft Lifecam HD-3000
- OctoPrint with a free USB port
The original housing of the Lifecam HD-3000 will be removed and destroyed, the four screws will be re-used.
Opening the original case (see picture):
- Unlock the two screws at the back, on the left and right side of the rubber grip.
- Take the case apart, but pulling forward at the bottom (there are three notches at the top)
- Unlock the two screws that hold the PCB
- Pull the microphone out of it's tight-fit plastic
- Pull the silver metal spring holding the black metal pin
- Remove the black metal pin holding the rubber grip
- Remove the rubber grip
- Use pliers to cut the back side and remove the USB cable
- Use pliers to remove all the hard plastic glued to the USB cable
Rebuilding with the new case:
- Put the PCB into the printed base, and lock it with two screws (there's a cable exit on one side and a space for the microphone on the other side)
- Put the top on the case and lock it from the back with two screws
- Move the case inside the printer and push up the mounts up in-between the two metal sheets of the printer (there's a screw at the center of the printer so it's easier if you do one mount first away from the center and then the second mount diagonally)
- Put the cable up and out through a space between the printer housing and the acrylic top.
- Plug the USB into your OctoPrint and enjoy
