Description

This is my third attempt at a dog toy for my jack russel terrier. She loves it!

I had the idea after I found her regularly "stealing" caps of spray cans, catty them around and sticking her nose into them for hours. I added an obstacle and so the back of the cup becomes a food reservoir.

You can fill it with cotton-cheese and/or other treats. I also added two slits where you can clamp in treats to make it even harder for the dog to reach to the inside. I use different treats and clamp it inside such that she has to work to get stuff out. In the rear area is a rounded corner such that it is easier to clean and other edges are all smoothed too.

The outside cylinder is slightly tilt such that it does not roll completely straight but in a wide arc. I thought that may be more fun for her and keeps the toys in a closer area.

As material I used BDP Flax and PETg. Both are ok for contact with food and BDP Flax would probably even digested (partly) if she could break it. It was printed with 3 perimeter outlines and 100% infill. The PETg version was printed without cooling to make the layers bonding very strong. The BDP Flax version was printed with "higher heat" which makes this material pretty hard. I also used it for coffee cups which are working and still looking decent after months of daily usage.

This model has an opening of 65m and is for small dogs. I think one can scale it and it will fit other breeds well. You may not be able to print it with 100% infill at bigger size but adding some perimeters may make it chew resistant enough (or not).
