G4 Halogen Bulb Replacement Tool

It can be a pain to replace a G4 halogen bulb, especially if you follow the recommendation not to touch the glass by hand. This little tool can help you.

There are no special requirements for the printing. It can be difficult to get the thin wall to look nice, but in most cases it is not important for function of the tool.

I have printed mine in PLA on a DaVinci Jr.

Most bulbs have a diameter around 8 mm, but some are thicker. I have added a “fat” version for those.

As it is only 12 volt, you can leave power on when you fit the new bulb. But as the plastic cannot resist the heat from the bulb for longer time, you have to be fast and remove the tool as soon the bulb is in. If you have to search for the right position of the bulb, you should press the bulb in as soon as you see the first blink of light, and remove the tool just as fast.
