Description

HTC Vive comes with mounts for base station that needs to be mounted using screws. I am renting a place, and drilling walls is not possible. I wanted to use some kind of double sided tape to mount base stations on a wall. The problem is that stock mounts have a very low surface area on it's back, which makes really bad adhesion to a wall. To make it stick very well you need as much of the surface as possible. This extension gives me large surface area.

I've used heavy duty good mounting strips like these https://www.commandbrand.com.au/3M/en_AU/command-au/products/~/Command-Large-Refill-Strips-6pk-17023P?N=5924736+3294529197+3294773680&rt=rud#variation1 from 3M Command Brand. I've used ones rated for 2.9KG. The base station is around 100g, but CG is away from the wall and it pulls the top part of mount out, not down. Anyway, it seems it's holding the weight of base station with 2 strips applied. Before trusting mounts to hold real base stations I hang dummy load to test adhesion for a couple of hours. I also followed instruction on the package (wait for 1 hour before applying a load)

I've used 2 10mm M4 bolts with nuts. It designed that you can take mounting station off the extension without removing the extension from the wall.

I am not responsible for any damage your station might get from falling down using this extension.
