CR-10 Frame Bracing - No -Z- Travel Loss Design

This is basically the kit that Creality is now selling for their printers. I am the original designer so I am proud to have Creality recognize this design as a suitable solution for stabilizing the frame structure of the typical extruded aluminum machine design. Enjoy!

UPDATE: I added additional tube ends that have the thread size expanded to 8.32mm diameter for those that may be experiencing threads coming out a bit too small. Try these and see what you get. I also included the STP and X_T files if you need to modify these further.

UPDATE: After testing assembly it seems the tube ends were a little tight on the rod ends. The 8mm threads in these parts have been modified (12/31/17) slightly to add additional clearance. New files are uploaded for the tube ends. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused anyone.

This is my final design for the CR-10 Frame Bracing components. The printable parts have been uploaded in STL, STP, and X_T format. You may remix as you please, but please remember to give credit. As you can see by the side view of the machine with the gantry all the way up, there is no interference with the bracing. All attachments have been kept away from the printing area so you have no loss in build volume whatsoever. And these braces, even though they are very small in diameter and very lightweight are much stronger than the all-thread designs. Carbon Fiber simply does not bend.

4pcs - M6 x 1 Shoulder Bolts (Stripper Bolts) with 8mm diameter x 12mm long shoulder
2pcs - M8 Rod End Right Hand Thread w M8 x 1.25 thread, 8mm thru hole, 12mm thickness
2pcs - M8 Rod End Left Hand Thread w M8 x 1.25 thread, 8mm thru hole, 12mm thickness
4pcs - M5 x 14mm Button Head Cap Screws
4pcs - M5 T-nuts for 2020 extruded tubing

*NOTE: These inserts install in the back side of the L-shaped brackets for the M6 Shoulder bolts to screw into.

Epoxy to glue the tube ends in place. Make sure each tube gets one RH threaded tube end and one LH threaded tube end. Mine printed with such a perfect fit I didn't need epoxy.
M6 x 1 tap to tap the ends of the extrusions where the rod ends bolt up. This should tap easily. Try to keep the tap straight. Use WD-40 to lubricate the tap.

*Note: These tubes are hard to find in this length. But the seller I listed here will instruct you how to purchase the longer 570mm tubing from them through an eBay purchase. Production and shipping to the US took about 2-1/2 weeks from date I ordered. Quality is exceptional.
Total cost for these materials should be somewhere around $30-$40 USD.

The way these work, since they are left hand thread on one end and right hand thread on the other, you simply turn the tubing to extend or retract the brace tension and adjust your gantry. So each tube needs to have a right and left threaded rod end inserted in them. The tube ends are laid out so when you import them into your slicer or CAD program the two on the right side will be the right hand thread.
