Description
I tried this challenge to see if it would work for my students, and the program was awesome. Bridges the gap between Scratch and CAD.
I took a design my five year old daughter and I worked from a sketch she drew and measured. Two weeks ago we drew it in CAD and this week I showed her how I remixed it by writing the design out with code. The designs are way different, but came from the same sketch. It would be very neat to have students draw out designs both ways to increase their understanding of design, patterns and of course code. I will definitely be writing this in as my hour of code lesson for the future if we get a grant for a 3D printer in our classroom.
I did have to export an OpenScad file and Render it with that program to get it to slice better. I included that file with the modifications for higher resolution cylinders and spheres. Very neat to learn all of these new design tricks to bring to my students!
