Folding Clothesline for 18" Dolls

This thing is a foldable clothes line toy for 18" dolls. Actually, it is probably sturdy enough to work as a real collapsible clothesline if one would simply use longer sticks.

You need to make some of the thing parts out of wood. Here's a list of what you need:

Base.
For the base, I didn't bother drawing anything up. I simply cut an 8" square out of 3/4" plywood and drilled a 1/2" hole in the center. I would probably not print this because it needs to be quite heavy to prevent the whole thing from tipping over.

Post:
this is an 18" piece of 1/2" wooden dowel.

Ribs and Stretchers:
These are made of 3/8" wooden dowel. The dimensions for these are noted in the PDF, which you can find with the rest of the thing files.

Pins:
I used a heavy trimer line for the pins. A piece of thin wooden dowel would probably work as well. The holes are printed 1/8 but I drilled mine out to accommodate the heavy trimmer line. The line I used was a Stihl 0.13" nylon.

Line.
I used a piece of cord that I had left over from a window blind kit. Nearly anything would work, provided it is strong enough. Most yarn is probably too weak. I installed the line in one piece, threading it through the inner holes first, then running it through the outer holes. This eliminates the step of having to adjust the length of each line (since there is only one line). I superglued the ends of the line to keep them from fraying.

Assembly:
Please view the video before gluing the ribs to the hinges. Also see the video for how to assemble the whole thing. It is probably wise to pin everything up before you glue anything.

Obviously, you can change the length of the ribs and the pole, as mentioned earlier.

I used super glue to permanently set all the pins and the hinges.

Update:
I replaced all the thing files with slightly revised ones. Most of the changes were to simplify the design and to make it easier to print without supports.
