Description
Added three holes to the Basic Adapter spaced so that I can mount this on top of the aluminum triangle clamping plate on TrickLaser's kit for groove mount hot ends on a Rostock Max. The strength of the aluminum keeps my hot end clamped as rigid as ever, but with this adapter on top of it (sharing 3 longer bolts) it is still compact and light and simple.
I printed mine from ABS at 90% density, and after placing the PTFE tube in the hot end and adding the retaining clip to lock the push-to-connect fitting, I secured this and the groove mount clamping aluminum plate, with a few inches of PTFE sticking up through it all. Once fully clamped, I slid a hobby knife across the top to cut the PTFE tube flush, so that there would be no gap in the filament guidance coming out of the Zesty Nimble.
My first prints have been an amazing improvement in quality over my previous Bowden tube setup which used a Bondtech QR extruder, and even a recent test of a Bondtech BMG on the hot end itself (was too heavy and left awful vibrations visible in the prints). Single biggest improvement in performance I've seen out of any of the upgrades I've done to my Rostock.
