Aldi Xfinity and Ryobi (south africa) battery connector

edit 2025: added a modded version with an stl that needs repair to use or a repaired version as a bambu studio 3mf that can bolt to a dewalt adapter and a make an xfinity adapter for a dewalt tool.

edit 2019: added a version with 6mm mounting holes for countersunk screws.
this stl was created using designspark mechanical v4 instead of v2 so hopefully the non manifold issue from previously is fixed, I had no issues slicing with cura either way.

The later batterys hold Samsung 20Q inr's and are fitted with a charge display, at <$20 .. great value. I assume the controller specs have remained the same. Suspect the 4.0Ah cell has higher discharge max but do not own one yet.

Battery BMS cutoff current calculated at 25.3A, full charge 21.25V, discharge cutoff at 13.50V.

I wanted this to drive CNC stepper motors and controller, the retaining holes for the standard blue electrical spade crimps are 7mm diameter and hold quite firmly, so you might need to round the crimp base off with pliers to get it to fit snugly. The wire holes are 3mm and I used a heavy duty 10g silicon wire which was 3.5mm diameter, instead of drilling and weakening the plastic I used a warmed screwdriver blade to open the holes up a bit and with a press fit wire the blades are not even trying to move when unplugging the battery and line up quite well.
The clamp works the same as the drills etc, ie, you have to use the button on the pack to remove the battery.
The electrical blades do not go in as far as the tool blade pins but the clamping is done near the tip so length is no issue, seems to be an adequate connection.

Heard the model had issues so ran it through Netfabb and uploaded the fixed version also.
