Overnight Sensations

After designing the teardrop shape enclosures for the Dayon PS95's, I decided to tackle the Overnight Sensations. I built my first Overnight Sensations kit back in 2010 and have been very happy with them ever since. Once I bought a CR-10 I knew I'd want to eventually make a pair of enclosures for them, and here they are. I initially finished this design a couple of months ago, and presented them at DIY Iowa 2017. I'm just getting around to uploading it now.

I want to preface this with the fact that this was an experiment, as most things in life are. It really isn't the best enclosure design. It won't be an improvement over Paul Carmody's original design (who can seriously improve on his stuff though?) Some will argue that a spherical enclosure is the best design for a speaker enclosure (I based this design off of that theory) however my design has one flaw to it. The port is located right behind the 4" driver, so half of the mid range just goes straight out the back. If you do end up printing this, have fun with it, but keep that fact in mind. I also want to note that while the enclosure shape has changed, the internal volume and port volume have stayed true to Paul's original design.

That's pretty much my short story. I printed it at 0.2mm layer height and it took about 70 hours per side. You could probably improve on this time, however I was in no rush when printing them. Make sure you print it baffle side down (I'm not sure how the STL is oriented in the file) and also you'll need support material for the baffle mount, as well as for the port.

Tips are welcome but don't ever feel obligated to do so! :)
