Description
This puzzle looks very easy, right? It would take just a couple of seconds to figure out that it's a human head and to put all the pieces in the right place...
Now imagine that you are an immigrant from the old world in the early 20 th century. After a horrible and long trip over the sea, most often in poor conditions, you arrive at Ellis island hoping to begin a new life, you are starving, sleep-deprived, even ill, in a foreign land. After a lot of test and questions, the officer that is in front of you asks you to solve a puzzle made of wood, if you don't solve it, you'll probably be rejected and you'll have to come back to Europe...
This is the reality of this puzzle, a piece of history that show us one of the faces of the reality of the millions of immigrants that arrives at Ellis. It seems simple, just a toy, and at the same time, it's a symbol of too many things. This attracts me to do this simple replica and think about we did and we are doing in our modern societies
