Description
I would like to present my Raspberry Pi Laptop meant to use the official Raspberry Pi Foundation 7" multi point touch screen.

This has been designed in Solidworks 2017. The one thing I copied was the keyboard layout from www.thingiverse.com/thing:2753563 then I still re-engineered it.
To build this exactly as I have here's the BOM:
Little bit expensive to make but these are parts I had so gonna use them. I designed this to screw together and to be as few prints as possible. It has a lot of room in it and should be pretty easy to assemble.
Take a look at the exploded diagram to see how it assembles.
For printing I ran everything with a .4 nozzle except the power button and palm rest. These I ran at the same time with a .2mm nozzle due to how tiny the spaces between the keys are. This did not take too much extra time since I kept that part as small as I could. I ran 1.2mm walls and 15% fill on the whole thing. No need for it to be heavy really.

Ok it's pretty easy to assemble. Take a look at this pic:
So the basic idea is the Pi is in the center with the video cable run up to the cable guide. The left side has the power bank board mounted with connections soldered to both sides of that thing. This is the part that I suggest you change to fit your needs.
On the right is the battery pack, 3 cells of 5000MAH each, each with a protection board to isolate it in case of trouble.
The glob of hot glue with a heatsink and green LED in the top center/right is a 3 amp lithium charger board. It's set to stop charging at 4 volts then the power bank takes over to top it all off at 4.2v.
You can see I trimmed down the USB connectors a lot. I soldered on low profile ends and added some ground wires to cut down on noise.
There's not a great amount of detail here because this is meant as a project to get customized.

OK so the screen resolution is pretty bad. 800x480 is not even enough for most web pages. At this link to the Raspbrry Pi forums https://goo.gl/yK83oB you will find instructions on how to modify your config.txt to increase it to 1024x614. This works with retropie and desktops, even berryboot in my own experience. Touchscreen works fine except in berryboot.
Another thing i found is it helps to have a big heat sink. I use https://goo.gl/nKc92k These 20x20x10mm heat sinks and thermal glue https://goo.gl/2GGoLg to attach them so they don't fall off.
Lastly for wire I like to use silicone. It's soft, doesn't melt and works great. For all power inside I used 20AWG and for signal I used 28AWG. For power I would not go any smaller than 20AWG to prevent issues. There's enough room in the wire guide going to the screen for 4 x 20AWG and the ribbon cable.

Update 3/8/2018 Updated base, made it 2mm taller inside. Needed a tiny bit more room. Also added front air vents to keep things cool. All files updated.
Update 3/8/2018.2 Updated again, moved the SD card slot down a bit. Got it all wired and working! Done, complete, enjoy!
Update 3.14/2018 Pi day! New Pi 3 B+ announced and ordered today. This is the perfect vehicle for it I think! Starting a new version for a higher res screen like https://goo.gl/Pz9Nxf 1024x600 vs 800x480. Much more useful desktop resolution, Watch remixes here for that! Otherwise updated the files for a little more fit and finish polish and added some design flair.
Update 3/20/1018 Making some slight redesigns. I changed up the palmrest to make it fit nicer. Added some more vents around the edges of the base. Removed logos from palmrest. Added my lion logo to the bezel rear cover.Made a thinner rear cover option based on what seems to minimally fit in mine. I removed the legs for the power board. Making it so you can use a 6mmx6mm tactile on a 12mmx12mm PCB for a power button to a remote mounted board.

1/18/19 Almost a year later still use this daily at work. It's great for notes and looking junk up plus it plays games.
1/19/19 Made some changes and made a 3mm thicker base for some more room for stuff! Printing that now and I plan to use two 10,000MAH LiPo cells in a 2S configuration for 8.4v supply. This will charge off 5v at 2amps or 9-24v through a separate barrel jack at about 2 amps. The higher voltage supply will also power the unit at the same time. Files updated!
2/5/19 Reuploaded the bases. I added the new power switch design and logos. Also added a peg for the palmrest to rest on for support while typing.
2/10/19 Adjusted some base dimensions for better fit.
