Description
Stand alone case for MKS SBase and various displays. Includes space for smoother boards and bed MOSFETs. This is a LARGE case, 177X172 mm. Make sure you can fit it on your bed before attempting to print it.
This case is stable enough to stand beside the printer, or, as with Denos' case, can be mounted to an extrusion via screw holes on the the un-vented side
M3 screws should be used to secure the top to the bottom. All other holes are M4-sized
All versions use the same bottom, a slightly modified version of Denos' case. Multiple tops are available, only one is needed.
Modifications to Denos' case are as follows:
Screw holes in the bottom of the case have been extended through the bottom of the case and widened slightly. They now fit M4 screws better, and you can use longer screws without "popping" the stand-offs off of the board.
A large round hole has been added to the rear of the case to allow the use of a 3/4" Split wire loom such as the following as strain relief for the wires going to the printer: https://www.amazon.com/Split-Conduit-Polyethylene-Tubing-Sleeve/dp/B071SLL94T/
A locking ring has been added to hold the above split wire loom in place.
Not all files are needed for all builds.
For example, If you are using just the 12864 Smart controller, you need the bottom, the button, and the top for the 12864 to have a complete case.
The button is required for all versions that use the 12864 Smart Controller, if you want to be able to use its reset button. if you are not using the 12864 Smart Controller, the button is not necessary.
None of the versions that include the Smart Controller include an option to access its SD card slot. This is intentional. I would recommend using the Micro SD card in the MKS SBase board instead. Smoothieware can run into SPI issues accessing the Smart Controller's SD card slot, leading to crashes (and failed prints). This issue does not apply to the MKS TFT displays, as they do not interface with the MKS SBASE board via SPI.
Options for MKS TFT LCD's include a space for the 12864 controller, as it (still) includes functionality lacking on the MKS TFT displays.
All top case options option for 40mm x 40mm exhaust fan at the top rear. The fan goes on the outside of the case on the "Combination" versions.
