Description
Introduction:
I have been fly fishing for a few years now and always wanted to design a fly reel - I have printed the other ones available (SublimeLayers reel is fantastic) but wanted to challenge myself to design a realistic looking fly reel based on the major brand designs. It is a combination of a few fly reels that I own and was pleased with the result when I printed it.
This reel uses no supports - and is a superglue construction design for PLA. Fly reels are notorious for printing as the design requires a lot of supports, this design negates this. It also does not require a heap of washers, screws or bearings so it can be printed quickly.
I have included the iges file to others to modify / use / remix or adjust tolerances.
Credit goes to SublimeLayers who inspired me to use the "Zip tie" click pin method.
Hardware / Tools Required:
Assembly:
Refer to assembly pictures, print and assemble to test tolerances before gluing. A washer or o-ring could be added under the centre pin screw to add more drag. I did not require it.
Have fun!
