EDIT ( 8/8/2018 ): New "High Tolerance" version prints super well on our prusa MK3. 20% infill is still good but i personally prefer it at 100%. 0.2 layer height works great. May try one at 0.1 at some point to see if it makes the middle hinge slide a bit smoother.

EDIT ( 7/17/2018 ): Added a new "High Tolerance" version for those who have their printers really well dialed in. Hinge gap on original is .625mm and .4 on the new HT version. So far only tested printing the hinge by it self on a Prusa i3 MK3 but they still print very well and rotate easily. Currently printing a full version and will update this with the results. Just finished a full print of the HT versionon the MK3 its it's easily the best one I've made hinge wise. Don't have my switch with me today so I'll have to test the rail fit tonight but so far so good.

EDIT: Incorrectly said this needs no supports initially. Supports are needed only on the vertical rail so a very high angle is needed. Like 89 degrees. I've had very good luck with support interface in cura but basically any support should be fine.

This case concept was created by Sam Williams & Joe Chagan.

Model / Design by Joe Chagan.

This is a case that holds 6 Nintendo Switch games and 2 Joy-Con Straps. It is designed to print all at once in place so no assembly is required. The hinges actually become one of the rails so the case is held securely closed by one of the straps.

This project started about a week before the Switch was originally launched when one of the tech journalists here at quartz received a Switch for review. Sam & I had been playing around with a 3D printer for a while and immediately thought the switch would be great candidate for some clever accessories (as did the rest of this community apparently). After a bit of brain storming we thought something that held games & helped keep track of the Joy-Con straps was a great idea. We then set out to design just such a device in time for the switch launch a week later. That didn't happen.

Prototyping is hard.

So here we are just over a year later and it's finally "done" (as done as any 3d printing project ever is). Hope you all enjoy it and look forward to the feed back. I'm sure there will be some revisions coming.

Side note: this is intended to work with the locks on the straps as such the rails fit about as snuggly as they do on the joy-cons. I.E. They can be a bit of a pain to remove.
