Description

The coupler between the lead screw and the motor shaft is there to make sure everything turns smoothly even though they are not perfectly aligned.
But then you get what's called z wobble, and this can be translated into wavy prints.

So we need something rigid but still flexible enough to compensate for any miss-alignment.
This thing bolts right over on top of the old system, keeping the lead screw straight while the coupler allows the slight miss-alignment.

I have not tested this with a stock Anet A8.
Meaning that, If you have the stock direct drive style extruder, your carriage might ride lower and collide with this mount.
Mount is 39mm high, so home your printer and measure your clearance.

What you'll need:

  • Two 608 bearings
  • Eight 16mm M3 screws

How to install:

  • Unscrew the threaded rod from the coupler
  • Unscrew the motor
  • Insert the bearing into the guide.
  • Slide the guide onto the rods
  • Reinstall the threaded rod into the coupler
  • Slide the guide down over the coupler
  • Hold up the motor up and screw everything down.

I can recommend this thing to stabilize the top of the lead screw:
