Description

A Duet for your Rostock Max is highly recommended. What a treat and delight to work with!!!

This system utilizes the original Rambo and LCD controller mounting locations for installation of a PanelDue 5", Duet 2 (Wifi/Ethernet) and a JohnSL FSR Endstop Controller into a SeeMeCNC Rostock Max V2 .

There are three versions of the Duet 2 board: Duet only, Duet + JohnSL FSR Controller and Duet + JohnSL FSR Controller + Power Routing. Power routing may useful if you wish to run the motors on 24V but keep the 12V bed and hot end components while maintaining fuse protection. See this topic on the Duet3D forum for comments about such an arrangement.

PanelDue Mount and Bezel incorporate three printable user buttons for actuating proto-board mounted switches and protected recessed access to the PanelDue controller reset and erase buttons. There is access to the micro USB port and also cutouts (12mm x 19mm) for three utility switches.

The button stl files ending in _105 are scaled to 105%. See comment below in printing section.

Also included are FSR pads for mounting an FSR bed a la mhackney and an "ear" template to aid fabricating a bed plate with a 200mm radius for the FSR location should you wish to roll your own under the go big or go home (aka minimize the cantilever effect) philosophy rather than go the pragmatic route with the TrickLaser FSR Plate for Onxy Heated Bed.

123D and STEP files are in the Design_Files.zip folder.

###Materials Required

  • M2 x 6 - 8mm screws for mounting user button switch proto board - Qty 4

  • M3 x 10 - 12mm bolts or screws for Bezel - Qty 4

  • M3 x 6 - 8mm bolts or screws for mounting Duet 2, PanelDue, Display, JohnSL board and Power Routing Board - Qty 17

  • M4 x 16 - 20mm bolts or screws for mounting cooling fan - Qty 2

  • 40mm axial cooling fan (i.e. this 12 CFM monster )
    Note: fan noise is easily managed with M106 P2 I0 F100 L0.25 T35:65 H100:101 in your config.g file

  • Keyed IDC 10 position connector socket to support PanelDue SD card function - Qty 2

  • 200mm 10 conductor ribbon cable

Optional

  • Push Button Switches (5mm height) - Qty 3

  • Utility Switches - Qty 3

  • 20mm x 80mm 0.100"/2.54mm proto board for user buttons -Qty 1

  • 3" x 2" 0.100"/2.54mm proto board for Power routing board - Qty 1

###Tools Required

  • Drills - 1.6mm, 2mm, 2.4mm, 3mm and 3.3mm for sizing tap holes and finishing.

  • Taps - M2, M3 and M4

###Printing

  • PETG recommended for Board and PanelDue Mounts for strength and ease of tapping.

  • Support recommended for the PanelDue Mount.

  • X60 is ideal for the buttons (including the Reset and Erase) but any of the softer TPU or TPE filaments should be suitable.
    Note: Depending on type of elastomer used for buttons, you may need to adjust scaling of button stl files in order to get a good fit in the bezel. I found 105% to work well for X60 filament.

###Assembly Comments

  • Note orientation and routing of PanelDue ribbon cable. Mount cable before installing PanelDue controller. 200mm is more than adequate length for cable.

  • Note the orientation and location of the switches on the 20x80mm proto board.

  • The ear template locates in holes around the periphery of the Onyx bed. Some tape to hold the bed and template down will be your friend whilst you outline the bed plate cut out.
