This X-carriage is designed to allow you to quickly release your hot ends for easy services or to switch between 3D print and laser/engraver without having to remove/reinstall the belt everytime. Also minimized the number of bolts that needed to be removed down to 1. WAIT, WHAT? Why bolt? Bolt is still the most durable and toughest fastener, together with simple keys in couple of locations to eliminate all plays caused by joined parts. And I’m serious, no plays whatsoever.

You dont have to remove the bolt completely. Just loosen the bolt a few turn and slide the adapter out. And you need some type of quick connectors for this. Choose your fav on amazon.com.

If you have enough spare parts lying around to make up a complete hotend then why not put them to good use? Make it a spare set of hotend, ready to use in case if your current one needs servicing.

Adapters currently available are for CHIMERA (dual extruder), 33mm laser (www.banggood.com around $70), and E3DV6 Bowden (universal) in my remix section.

Notes:

Do not mount the electrical quick connectors on the carriage like I do. It looks messy like that. I mounted it on the carriage because I'm involving in a project at work that may need instant modifications for laser. So if you want your carriage looking nice and clean, and reduce the weight putting on the carriage, then mount the electrical quick connector on the frame.
