THIS DESIGN NEEDS UPDATING - NOT ALL PRINTS WILL SNAP SHUT CHANGING IT SOON.

OLED display case for the more and more popular 128x64 SSD1306 which are all over AliExpress, E-bay, and Banggood. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to be a snap enclosure and it works most of the time but once in a while I will get a print that i can't make snap, but that could be my printer or settings. Access port in back fits the i2c type (4 pin) connector.

Please test the snapping pressure, several times, BEFORE you put your display in it and squish it! This is a crucial step because sometimes they print so tight that you have to snap the heck out of them and really squish them to get them to snap then pry it open and do it again until it becomes easier. The tiny fingernail slot on the side is barely visible but will help you pry the beasty open later on.

There is not a lot of room left over - Will it get hot in there? - dunno. So far mine are fine.

The tiny screw holes inside the base unit are bogus. just ignore them. However, the corners inside the base act as standoffs.

How I put my screens in:

you will need something like a bamboo skewer. Lay the display in the correct way inside and using the flat, blunt end of the skewer press near the far corners PCB's screen by the mounting holes until the unit makes it to the bottom - press gently! then gently snap the cover on by the corners first then carefully down each side.

I built this because I was tired of worrying about bashing the thin film connector and touching the edges of the LED conductor on the edge of the glass and wigging it out.

It's maybe good for like 20 - 30 snaps before the snapping action starts to get less snappy - (hey its just a couple tiny lines of plastic holding the snapping together.)

Happy Screen Snapping
