3D Printed Fishing Floats

UPDATE: I have taken some advice from fellow commenters and updated a newer version of the small skinny float. I redesigned the small float with a larger line retention cut out and a longer bottom chamber. Hopefully it works out! I haven't printed it yet but I assume it should work just fine! The new files are labeled "long_bottom_chamber".

I have also added 2 slip float versions based on community suggestions. The 2 piece version labeled (2 piece) has the bottom half merged together for the print, this may be difficult to print with the overhangs. The 3 piece version has a 3D print style dove tail that should work well and should be CA glued in place. I haven't printed these designs yet, please let me know if you do and they work! I don't see a reason why they shouldn't!

Depending on your printer you should be able to print these floats out without supports and the line keeper should print around the shaft just fine. I use foam backer rod in 5/8" inch and 3/8" diameter for the inside of the floats to aid in flotation just in case there were some layers that have separated and let water into the main body of the float. So far they have worked really well and I have not experienced any issues. I printed them in PETG and in PLA but be aware that if PLA gets too hot in direct sunlight it can warp so it may disfigure if subjected to very high temperatures. If your tackle box is not clear plastic you should be fine it's just something to keep in mind. ABS would be the best filament to print these with if you have the ability.

The skinny model and the medium model have included inserts, the inserts help while gluing the two halves together. The larger model float labeled "livestream" should snap together while gluing and should naturally align while being put together.
