Description

Why?

I have this running on my machine and it was a massive upgrade in print quality over the stock Anet extruder. The bondtech gears are totally awesome. Print quality is significantly better.

The Noctua fan is amazing, what a difference in noise levels. I can't even tell the printer is on when idle.

The Anet A8 X carriage rail spacing is 1mm larger than the Prusa I3 Mk3. These files adapt the Prusa design to work with the new spacing. The rest of the extruder parts remain unchanged and are fully compatible in terms of hole spacing etc.

Unfortunately I don't know SCAD well enough to make the modifications to the source, so the STL files have been edited directly.

Stock Prusa Files:

Download at Prusa github

You need:

  • extruder-body.stl
  • extruder-cover.stl
  • extruder-idler-plug.stl (only if using an optical filament sensor)
  • extruder-idler.stl
  • filament-sensor-cover.stl
  • nozzle-fan-45deg.stl
  • cable-holder.stl

Modified Files:

nozzle-fan-45deg-support-anet.stl

  • The Anet extruder motor has a connector which protrudes and interferes with the 45 degree fan support of the Prusa design. The mounting flanges have been made taller by a few mm's to clear that connector.

x-carriage-anet.stl

  • Added 1mm of spacing between the bearing holders to accommodate the different rail spacing of the Anet.

x-carriage-anet-more-belt-clearance.stl

  • Added 1mm of spacing between the bearing holders to accommodate the different rail spacing of the Anet.

  • Added .5mm of clearance for the belt. Mine was too tight. Depending on your belt, you may not need this.

x-carriage-back-anet.stl

  • Added 1mm of spacing between the bearing holders to accommodate the different rail spacing of the Anet.
