Description

This cell phone tray mounts onto the handle of the Explore Scientific 102 refractor telescope rings although it could probably attach to any almost any setup using 1/4-20 x 0.75" screws. This tray aligns with the axis of the telescope and allows an iPhone 7 (or similar size iPhone) to point in this same direction. Then using the Polar Scope Align Pro App, the telescope can be pointed toward the north celestial pole even when Polaris is not visible. This may occur when there are trees or buildings in the way or even during the daytime when stars are not visible. The iPhone app has a cross-hair which shows both the telescopes angular orientation and elevation. Leveling the mount and then rotating and tilting the mount head while centering the cross-hair should get you within a few degrees of being polar aligned. This is usually adequate for visual applications.

This tray also has a feature allowing a Celestron 51630 Star Pointer Telescope Finderscope to be mounted to this tray and along the same axis as the telescope. An Amazon purchase link to this finderscope is provided below.
