I had a 1Kg solder wire reel laying around, and I realised that it was really difficult and uncomfortable to handle such a heavy reel, while soldering electronics, so I thought it was a good idea to design something to handle it better.
This is a little 3d printable reel, which weighs 30 - 40 grams with three layers of rolled tin. It prints in two parts, which screw toguether (for easier printing purposes).
PRINTING INSTRUTIONS:
You have to print one male part and one female part.
I uploaded a "notch" version inspired by plastic spools mechanism to fix the end of the filament. It is not that necessary, since tin wire is stiff enough, and doesn't move around that much.
I originally designed the female version with my name on it, but I have also uploaded a no name version, for every taste.
BUILD INSTRUCTIONS:
Thread both parts until a little before it covers the hole on the female, insert a couple or three centimeters of wire, and finish threading to secure it. Then you just have to rolle it up, and you are ready to go.
