Description
After a few mods to my TronXY X5s I noticed that prints were not square anymore. It was offsetting 1-3 mm in about 100 mm. So, holes that were suppose to align to other objects - just would not work.
I got inspiration for this from "Tronxy X5s Mega Gantry Plates" by graham01 Oct 19, 2017. Their design would not work for me as it would interfere with other mods I was making or plan to make in the future.
And no matter what I tried, squaring the attachment rollers to the 2020 X- axis rails, belt tension, or squaring the frame, it would not stay where I put it. This post is my solution. And it does the trick.
Note: this Mod lowered the 2020 X-rail by about 3 mm. (so you might only get 397mm printing height now). This caused the rail to hit the Z axis pulley. Solution was to file a slight angle on the 2020 rail (as shown in the picture) to miss the pulley.
A word about alignment. It seems that on CoreXY machines the X and Y axis are notoriously dependent upon other things to print straight and true. (square).
This posting takes care of number 3. Other adjustment seems to have taken care of the other two items.
To adjust your printer. First, print and install this mod. (unashamed plug) Then make sure your frame is square. Then clamp the X axis gantry to the rear frame. (it is already square - Right?) Then adjust your belt tensions so they are equal. Remove the clamp. Recheck that the gantry touches the back frame at the SAME time.
This mod uses the original attachment plates for extra strength.
Hope this helps someone. I am finally getting consistently good quality prints. Now more tweeking so I can get great quality prints!
The bad part of this print. Is that you need another printer to print the part sqiare.
