Since I want to build a Powerful Peltier refrigerator for my garden next year, the first thing I had to do was try a test setup. That's what I've developed:

This construction holds 2 40x40mm Peltier elements sitting between two water cooling heat exchangers (80mmx40mm).

This is regulated by this thermostat (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3084960/files) which is necessary to keep the flow temperature below 70 ° C (158 ° f) on the hot side, because the parts only consist of ABS (PLA will not work!!!). I tested this system up to a flow temperature of up to 70 ° C / 158 ° f.

The heat exchanger on the hot side has 80mm, and is supported by a PC fan for heat dissipation.

On the cold side, I simply used a copper spiral (but here would also offer a 80mm heat exchanger, or a large canister to save).

On the electronic carrier board, I have provided a switch for each Peltier element, so that you can switch in two load levels (7A / 14A 84W -> max 215W).
The switches must therefore be connected behind the thermostat
In addition, there is a switch for each of the two pumps, which makes the first venting easier (during operation, the system is self-venting when properly installed).

The first test results:

(I ordered two 10A (very cheap) Peltier elements, but in reality, they are only 7A, but real 10A Peltier elements should work without problems (that would give the system up to 308W) !!! "

Test environment PC power supply (32A) @ 12V, room temperature 21 ° C / 70 ° F, both Peltier elements on (14A / 12V / 168W)

Cold side (car coolant use 50/50% mixture! Or the cold side freezes damn fast): after 15min operation 1,2 ° C / 33,8 ° F
(With insulated hoses on the cold side, temperatures well below 0 ° C / 32 ° F should be possible!)

Hot side (normal water without additives) with fan at full load: 35.5 ° C / 95.9 ° F

Test duration:> 20h

Noise: ~ 32db

System is absolutely stable!

!!!The hot side must always be the top !!!

Aims:

  • Later, this system will be made even more compact so that it becomes more mobile.

Applications:

  • Cooling box
  • Poor people with too much power air conditioning
  • PC water cooling booster (very ineffective, but somehow cool)
  • Heater
  • Dehumidifiers
  • or what ever

What follows later:

  • Replace TEC modules (Thermo Electric Cooler) with TEG modules (Thermo Electric Generator) to generate electricity with hot water supply.

Da ich für meinen Garten für das nächste Jahr einen Kraftvollen Peltier Kühlschrank bauen möchte, musste erste einmal ein Versuchsaufbau zum testen her. Das ist was ich entwickelt habe:

Dieser Aufbau fasst 2 40x40mm Peltier Elemente, die zwischen zwei Wasserkühlungs Wärmetauschern (80mmx40mm) sitzen.

Geregelt wird das ganze von diesem Thermostat ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3084960/files ) was daher notwendig ist, damit wir auf der heißen Seite die Vorlauf Temperatur unter 70°C(158°F) halten können, weil die Teile nur aus ABS (PLA wird nicht halten!!!) bestehen. Getestet habe ich dieses System bis zu einer Vorlauftemperatur von bis zu 70°C/158°F.

Der Wärmetauscher auf der heißen Seite hat 80mm, und wird von einem PC Lüfter bei der Wärmeabfuhr unterstützt.

Auf der kalten Seite habe ich einfach eine Kupferspirale verwendet (aber auch hier würde sich ein 80mm Wärmetauscher, oder ein großer Kannister zum speichern anbieten.

Auf dem Elektronik Trägerboard habe ich für jedes Peltierelement einen Schalter vorgesehen, damit man in zwei Laststufen schalten kann (7A/14A 84W --> max. 215W).
Die Schalter müssen daher umbedingt hinter dem Thermostat angeschlossen werden
Außerdem gibt es für jede der beiden Pumpen einen Schalter, die das erste entlüften leichter machen (im Betrieb ist das System bei richtigem Aufbau selbst entlüftend).

Die ersten Testergebnisse:

(Bestellt habe ich zwei 10A (sehr günstige) Peltier Elemente. In Wahrheit leisten diese aber nur 7A. Echte 10A Peltier Elemente sollten aber auch ohne Probleme funktionieren (damit hätte das System bis zu 308W)!!!"

Testumgebung PC Netzteil(32A) @12V, Raumtemperatur 21°C/70°F, beide Peltierelemente an (14A/12V/ 168W)

Kalte Seite (Kfz Kühlflüssigkeit verwenden 50/50% Mischung! Oder die kalte Seite friert verdammt schnell ein): nach 15min Betrieb 1,2°C/33,8°F
(Mit isolierten Schläuchen auf der kalten Seite sollten auch Temperaturen weit unter 0°C/32°F möglich sein!)

Heiße Seite (normales Wasser ohne Zusätze) bei Lüfter auf Vollast: 35,5°C/95,9°F

Testdauer: >20h

Lärm: ~32db

System läuft absolut stabil!

!!!Die heiße Seite muss zwingend immer die obere sein!!!

Ziele:

  • Später soll dieses System noch kompakter aufgebaut werden damit es mobiler wird.

  • Kühlbox
  • Arme Leute mit zuviel Strom Klimaanlage
  • PC Wasserkühlungs Booster (sehr ineffektiv, aber irgendwie cool)

  • Luftentfeuchter

Was später folgt:

  • Ersetzen TEC Module (Thermo Electric Cooler) durch TEG Module (Thermo Electric Generator), um mit Warmwasserzufuhr Strom zu generieren.
