Description

I got frustrated with my growing vinyl record collection leaning in their storage nook, I wanted them to be more vertical for purely cosmetic reasons.

Looking around the first thought was a standard bookend support. However I didn't find one I liked and the few I printed tended to slip anyway. Not sure why I came this final idea, but this is a ratchet based slider that will support the records securely yet allows easy adjustment.

The track is extendable and can be secured by screws to the top of the nook (it's an Ikea KALLAX bookshelf). I printed in PLA for the hardness, given it will be sliding and bouncing up and down in the ratchet.

The brace needs to have the ratchet inserted when printed and I secured with a little superglue in the slot. The ratchet also has a small thumb/finger tab which allows it to be pulled away from the track to let the brace move backwards (or forwards without the clacking of the ratchet!).

Updated with a longer version of the brace that reaches farther down the record (it is about 170mm long). I found the short one was allowing the records to partly slip out the bottom.
