HICTOP 3DP-11 X-Carriage for Boden Tube E3D V6 hot-end with a BT Touch

This is a design for an X-Carriage for my HICTOP 3DP 11 that incorporates a holder for the BT Touch. I also modeled a holder for my blower motor that replaces the normal end-clamp.

This is finally done, and installed in my printer. Here are the settings I got for my setup. Your's may vary.

Y-Offset: 0 (by design, the BT Touch is exactly even with the extruder port)
X-Offset: +25
Z-Offset: -1.4

In this thing, the Z-Offset of the BT Touch is not adjustable. You must actually change the model. A public link to the model is here: https://a360.co/2L8DiTG and downloads are enabled. To change the height of the BT Touch, edit the last construction plan in the timeline Change the offset. This sets the height between the top of the hot-end and the top of the BT Touch. I finally got this right by putting a calipers on my hot-end and my BT Touch. My hot end was 62mm and my BT Touch was 43mm giving me a difference of 21mm. So I set my offset of the construction plane to 19mm. You can see in my z-offset above somewhere I'm off by .6mm (could be my calipers, my measurements, or the thermal contraction of the cooling plastic after printing, probably all of these).

Assembly Notes

  • Screws for the pillow blocks are M4x12mm

  • Screws to connect to the belt holder are M3x20, you will need two M3 nuts as well.

  • This still uses the stock belt holder that came with the HICTOP. You can find it here (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:953556)

  • The M4 screw on the left side (looking from the front) needs to be long enough to go through to hit the pillow block. I don't have an exact size, but I'll put it back here when I finish assembly (It is an M4x35mm and it fits like a glove!)

  • The M3 screw on the right side doesn't go all the way through. You need to insert an M3 heat-set insert to hold the hotend in place. Something like this: https://www.mcmaster.com/94459a130
