Description
This is the result of a month long quest to build my own stereo head unit for my car. It uses a Raspberry Pi with a DAC, a 5Inch LCD from Waveshare and an IQAudio Cosmic Controller, along with an Arduino Pro Mini to interface with the Pi and provide power control.
Therev are 2 versions of the STL: one for using and SD card extender towards the back, and one that does away with the SD card and uses an SSD instead, moving the Pi up by 4mm.
-This is not 2DIN ISO 7736, it is one cm too short for that. My car has a 180x90mm slot, not 180x100.3mm, which is part of the reason I decided to build my own unit. If you know your way in Designspark Mechanical you can probably adjust this with a bit of work.
-It is split in parts of max 120mm long, to allow printing on smaller printers.
-All parts are assembled with M2.5 nuts and countersunkscrews 6mm M2.5 screws. Only the screen uses M3 regular screws and nuts, due to the larger holes.
-Click mechanism uses 7mm by 8mm springs, along with 1.5mm metal rods like a cut down nail.
-There is no top: I just cut and glued some 3mm acrylic, so you can see inside. Only takes 2 holesand some glued tabs to hold it in place.
If anything this could provide some inspiration in how to create a big functional object with a smaller printer, and how to create and use connection methods.
