Description
This merger of three instances of the source 34-meter DSN antenna model into one non-swiveling model was designed as a futaoki 蓋置, i.e., a lid rest used in the Japanese Way of Tea. I omitted the antennas' azimuth tracks. The quadrapods are still printed separately; I found they didn't snap cleanly into the reflectors but attach securely by welding with acetone (on an ABS print).
The three antennas follow both the form of many futaoki in consisting of three objects (e.g. leaves, human figures, torii) and the geography of NASA's Deep Space Network, which consists of three deep-space communications facilities spaced approximately 120 degrees apart on the Earth.
