Description
Finding a way to level the bed on my Anet A8 I created a couple of simple tools to assist. The first is two pillars that I can place beneath the Z Carriage. This will help to align the Z frame level rather than having to measure each time. These you can slip in and out easy (Do not leave them in when powered as it could cause damage if you drive the Z down towards the stop.
With the second tool, it is just a hook that holds a budget 150mm Digital Calipers (£3) in place. I secured the caliper to the bracket by removing two diagonally opposite screws (found under label) and refit with the bracket. you may need to source longer screws but I got away with the original length. with this in place it is easy to level the bed by sampling different parts of the bed and getting the readings all the same. Hook on the top rail make sure it is fully down.
Added holders for the gauges.
Footnote
When you get snapped filliment I use a piece of 1.5mm brazing rod to push the broken piece down enough to be able to thread new filiment.
