Description
My parents bought the Velux brand integrated blackout blinds and were not happy with it because it was always jamming.
So my objective was to offer them a cost saving solution: Velux DIY Curtain Rods
The pictures I shared was the velux in my parents' house. The velux has also a tilt function so I had to put the rod far from the windows in case my parents want let it open during the day with the blackout curtains ON.
There are two positions for this thing:
I put a hexagon shape (or honey comb shape if you like bees) on the sides of the bars to make an anti-rotation function. This to have the possibility to stretch the curtain between the 2 rods.
I add a small slot on each bar side parts to block the curtain with the rod when you roll it around.
The only thing you have the make sure is that the distance separating the side walls is the same in the upper rod position and in the bottom rod position. If not, you need to modify the thickness of the upper wall hangers (I will try to offer a customizable model soon).
