Description
Thanks to cope for this design, and delivering the .STEP files. In kind, I've provided the .STEP files for this one. I haven't printed or installed this yet, but I made these changes:
I think this will work for both pieces, the hose and the table saw. I'll let you know.
Update 5/28:
I added a v2, which has a chamfer on the inside edge, to help the air figure out where to go (stupid molecules) and I removed the chamfer on the outside, so it will sit flush against the plywood. Still seems plenty strong.
The magnets I bought were a bit longer than 1/2", but I had already printed them, so I went ahead and made them work. I did this by using my soldering iron on a low temp (250C) and just heated them until they sank in. I don't know the physics, but it seems like that might have affected the strength (is that possible?), and the connector isn't terribly good. It does "click" together, but it won't hold up the hose on it's own, until the suction is turned on, which is a bit of a pain. I might print them again, and make enough space for two in series at each spot, and actually fit the magnets I bought.
I also found that they weren't 100% flush, but 1 min with some sand paper on a flat surface made them seal really well, without any light shining through.
