I needed a very simple and easy to print extruder setup for my Ender-3 Pro. This should also work on the Ender-3.
I also feel safe printing with high extruder temperatures as the setup is very effective in keeping the extruder heatsink cold.
Advantages:
- Lighter than the original setup
- More effective extruder cooling.
- Keep the extruder cooling air from reaching the heater block.
- Uses a bigger fan with higher air volume to more effectively cool down the printed part.
- Short printing times of the parts are achieved with this design e.g. at 0.16mm layer height, 40mm/s print speed and 23mm/s outer layer speed:
-- Bora Mount 2h 15min
-- Bora Blower Duct 44min
-- Bora Fan Funnel 26min
-- Mistral-E Bora 26min
You will need:
- Cooling Fan 5015 DC 24 V
- 4 x M3x16 screws (for the extruder cooling fan)
- 2 x M3x20 screws (for the fan duct)
- 1 x small zip tie
Assembly:
- It is necessary to lengthen the cable on the extruder cooler fan.
- Use existing screws (2) from the stock setup to attach the mount. Periodically check for looseness and re-tighten the screws if necessary.
- Use a sharp knife to cut out the holes on the base of the mount.
- Use a 2.8mm drill bit to drill out the holes for mounting the filament cooling fan.
- Check out the picture gallery for more details.
Make sure to check here for updated files before you start the print.
I would love to see your results!
Thanks.

Updates
2019-12-29 - Updated the fan funnel for a easier mounting.
2019-11-17 - I've added a picture of my latest version now with 3D Touch bed level sensor.
2020-01-14 - Uploaded a mount for use with a 3DTouch.
2020-03-15 - Slight improvements to the Bora Mount (v1.1)
2020-07-17 - Small changes to the mount for improved filament cooler airflow (v1.2)
Important Notes:
- Use a 0.4mm nozzle diameter.
- Make sure your printer is well calibrated.
- Support is not needed for the parts.
- All parts are printed with a shell thickness of 0.8mm!
- Recommended layer height is 0.16mm.
