Description
Snap-fit enclosure for an AuthenTec AES2810 module salvaged from a Lenovo W500. Should be the same module as that found in T400/T500 (10ish years old).
After obtaining said sensor, obtain a broken/hated USB device and chop its cable off.
Subsequently, solder:
Connect to your PC, cross fingers, and await Windows' detection of the hardware. If it works, carry on printing the part. If not, bad luck.
For better surface finish, and good "clipping" of the two sides, print top cover top-side-up, with support (with "Ironing" enabled, if you have such option). Bottom cover can be printed without support.
Fit is tight (100μm gap between upper and lower shell), so it might require some knife-based trimming.
Hot-snot glue or double-sided-tape tape the board in place. I used 4 layers of the "foamy" double-sided tape to stick the PCB on the bottom cover.
Jam the cable in the stress relief, close the two halves, and enjoy!
