Description
Designed to be compatible with the blades from 3DPRINTINGWORLD's lightsaber:
https://thangs.com/designer/3dprintingworld/3d-model/Collapsing%20Lightsaber-23595
The assembled lightsaber is about 11 inches long.
The separate threaded parts of the lightsaber allow for easy multi-material printing.
The one shown is printed in CC3D Silky Silver PLA, and Fillamentum Vertigo Galaxy (far, far away). The blade is Paramount Enzo Red PLA. Yes, I know Obi-Wan's lightsaber was blue, but I thought I would mix things up a bit.
The safety is attached with a 3mm screw and keeps the blade from falling out.
I found it useful to scale the blade segments slightly, to give more overlap for added strength. Make sure you only scale in X and Y. If you enlarge in Z they will be too long to fit.
Blade 1 = 106%
Blade2 = 104%
Blade3 = 103%
Blade4 = 102%
Blade 5 = 101%
Note that the left end of the stand is higher than the right, so the lightsaber will sit level, even though the front section has a smaller diameter than the rear.
I recommend
Front = 3 perimeters and 20% infill
Grip 1 = 4 perimeters and 0 infill
Control = 3 perimeters and 20% infill
Grip 2 = 2 perimeters and 50% infill
Cap = 3 perimeters and 20% infill
