No. 13 Japanese Submarine Chaser (1/350)

UPDATE: I have added stls for the more heavily armed 1944 version of this ship.

** With this model I have run into the question of exactly where the dividing line between 1/300 and 1/350 scale should be in Cruel Seas. I have decided that, as far as I am concerned, ships shorter than 50m should be in 1/300 scale, while longer ships should be 1/350.

I freely admit that this is an entirely arbitrary decision. Should you disagree, scaling these files up by 1.1667 will make them 1/300 scale. Since I deliberately made the guns oversized for printing purposes you may wish to keep them at their current size.**

The Imperial Japanese Navy seems to have had its focus somewhere other than small boats, but there are still a number of ones that seem appropriate for coastal forces wargaming.

The No. 13 Submarine Chaser was, surprise, surprise, designed for anti-submarine work. They were also used for convoy escort.

There were essentially 3 varieties of this ship. The IJN considered them all to be of the same class, however they were quite different. This one is an example of the initial ships, from 13 through to 27.

IJN No 13 Sub Chaser - the original ship, with an 8cm (actually 76mm) cannon forward and twin 13mm HMGs at the rear.

IJN No 13 Sub Chaser Unarmed - as above, with the guns removed for separate printing.

IJN No 13 Sub Chaser 1944 - the up-armed ship, with an 8cm (actually 76mm) cannon forward, 3 25mm cannons, and twin 13mm HMGs at the rear.
