Description
To print this thing without supports, I split the .stl model where the turbine cowl meets the base, and positioned each piece flat on the bed. This also allowed me to easily print each half in a different colour. Then it was easy to glue the two parts back together cleanly.
I also wanted the base to fit flush on the fan, so I deleted the bottom edge of the base, so that the bottom edge of the turbine cowl sits fractionally above the Bullseye duct. To hold the turbine to the fan, I used 2xM2-16mm bolts, washers and nuts to hold the top posts firmly against the tabs at the top of the fan.
I may regret not attaching the base at the bottom edge, because there is a good chance it is going to buzz when the print head is vibrating, So far so good, but these are early days..
I am considering creating clips to hold the bottom corners to the back of the fan. If I do, I will upload those here, also.
