Description

This is similar to low profile CNC clamps you can purchase however i wanted to adapt it to use on my CNC waste board which has insert nuts, and dog holes.

Will be printing this over the weekend and will update ASAP.

It's made to suit 6.3mm pins in the material of your choice. I will be using Aluminium to test.

The bolt that moves the toe component down is a M5 and you will need a nut. I have designed the hex hole with just enough tolerance to fit a 7.8mm wide hex nut from the front. Shouldn't need glue.

The slot that allows you to position the clamp fits up to M6 size bolts. Most of the x carve style CNC waste boards run M5 nut inserts i believe.

Will update as i progress with the design.

*** UPDATE ***

Printed today on my Prusa Mk3S and it was successful. I used two 35mm pieces of aluminium which are 6.3mm thick for the pins. One M6 16mm bolt for the base into my waste board, and one M5 25mm long for tightening the toe.

The recess around the M5 bolt hole on the toe was too small to fit the head of the bolt but i think i may delete that feature all together anyway.

The holding power was great. I used one clamp against a couple of bench dogs and it wouldn't lift up so i think this will be plenty strong enough for cnc applications.

I will be trying a live cut tonight.

Update
2020 Update. I have uploaded the fusion 360 file for these clamps. Just a warning the design process is more than likely a mess because i was a clean skin in regards to fusion at the time. Feel free to take the design and fix it or make it your own.
