screw-on filament filter / dust filter PTFE guided_M6 bowden extruder

Inspired by many different filament inserts or filament feed solutions for a bowden extruder and filtration of dirt and dust before feeding.

Suitable for all bowden extruder with M6 thread at the intake hole.

By myself, a screw-on solution was constructed which I have deposited for you in 2 versions.

Version 1: Lower part for plug connectors / push-fit connectors
(connector M6 and PTFE tube for easy, reduced-friction filament feed).

Version 2: lower part for direct feed
(your filament feed should be as straight as possible or with a large radius).

All other parts are the same.

The filter works perfectly and can be easily remove for maintaining or cleaning. Inside the body is a piece of kitchen sponge, which strips off the dust and, if desired, leaves a little film of lubricant on the filament. In this case just add a few drops of oil (I do not do that yet, but it works).

The insertion of the filament is easy, can be screwed apart and then also introduced individually.

Procedure, as I do it:

1. Insert filament into filament sensor (if you have one in front of it)
2. Insert filament into PTFE tube ( the tube length is individual of you )
3. Then push through the PTFE tube into the connector and then into the base with the bit of the kitchen sponge.
4. Check that the filament comes out of the center of the sponge and that the sponge is so close to the filament that it wipes off the dust.
5. Then insert into the other two parts and screw together. With hand strength is enough.
6. Let a bit of filament stick out of the screw with the through hole.
7. Now screw the filter by hand into the bowden extruder at the feed opening. There must be an M6 thread on the extruder (please check this before printing the filter).
8. When screwing in, the PTFE tube in the connector normally rotates, if not, disconnect briefly.
9. Ready for rock'n roll (print).

Update 2020-02-02: shorter "banjo bolt based on M6x10 DIN 933_mod" added.
Some extruders do not have a completely cut thread. As a result, the filament filter could not be screwed in completely and the self-tapping screw could kink.
You should always print the screws with particularly high-strength filament (e.g. nylon or fiber reinforced).

Inspiriert von vielen verschiedenen Lösungen zur Filamenteinführung oder Filamentzuführung für einen Bowden Extruder und der Filtrierung von Schmutz und Staub vor dem Einzug.

Geeignet für alle Bowden Extruder mit M6 Gewinde am Einzugsloch.

Von mir selbst wurde eine anschraubbare Lösung konstruiert die ich für Euch in 2 Versionen hinterlegt habe.

Version 1: Unterteil für Steckverbinder
(Steckverbinder M6 und PTFE-Schlauch für einfache, reibungsreduzierte Filamentzuführung)

Version 2: Unterteil für direkte Zuführung
(Eure Filamentzuführung sollte hier möglichst gerade oder mit großem Radius erfolgen)

Alle übrigen Teile sind gleich.

Der Filter funktioniert perfekt und kann einfach abgenommen und gewartet bzw. gereinigt werden. Im inneren des Körpers befindet sich ein Stückchen Küchenschwamm, welcher den Staub abstreift und falls gewünscht ein wenig Schmierfilm am Filamentmantel hinterlässt. In diesem Fall einfach einige Tropfen Öl hinzufügen
(Ich mache das bisher nicht, aber es geht).

Das Einführen des Filaments ist einfach, falls es irgendwo hakelt können die Teile auseinander geschraubt und dann einzeln eingeführt werden.

Ablauf, so wie ich es mache:

1. Filament in Filamentsensor einführen (wenn Ihr einen davor habt)
2. Filament in PTFE-Schlauch einführen (die Schlauchlänge ist individuell von Euch)
3. Dann durch den PTFE-Schlauch in den Steckverbinder und weiter in das Unterteil mit dem Stückchen des Küchenschwamms schieben.
4. Prüfen, ob das Filament mittig aus dem Schwamm hervorkommt und der Schwamm so dicht am Filament sitzt, dass dieser den Staub abstreift.
5. Dann in die beiden anderen Teile einführen und zusammenschrauben. Mit Handkraft genügt.
6. Ein bisschen Filament aus der Schraube mit dem durchgehenden Loch herausragen lassen.
7. Filter nun mit der Hand in den Bowden-Extruder an der Zuführöffnung einschrauben. Hier muss ein M6 Gewinde am Extruder vorhanden sein (dies bitte vor dem Drucken des Filters prüfen).
8. Beim Einschrauben dreht sich der PTFE-Schlauch im Steckverbinder normalerweise mit, falls es nicht geht, kurz abstecken.
9. Fertig für rock´n roll (Drucken).

Update 02-02-2020: kürzere "Hohlschraube auf Basis M6x10 DIN 933_mod" hinzu.
Manche Extruder haben ein nicht ganz durchgeschnittenes Gewinde. Somit lies sich der Filamentfilter nicht ganz einschrauben und die Holschraube konnte abknicken.
Die Schrauben solltet Ihr immer mit besonders hochfestem Filament drucken (z.B. Nylon, oder Faser verstärkt).
