Description
My local Microcenter has started selling reloadable spools and filament not on spools. They sell the reloadable spools for about $5. Their 2 piece spools use two nuts and hex head bolts to assemble and typically one of the nuts will fall out as you assemble or disassemble. I decided to make my own that just uses large threads. I did, and they work great for me.
I am uploading several designs. The pairs have the same name with F or M for male or female. You can mix and match across the designs, just choose an F and M.
You do not need support for these, in fact, do not use it. I print these out of leftover filament or filament I am unlikely to use and will pause the print and change filament if the first bit is running out.
Mine are printed on a Prusa MK3.
As you can see from the video, the two halve spin together very easily.
They print fined on Fast, Medium or mixed settings. I print mine on Simplify 3d fast but increased fill to 20%.
On the Micro-center filament you can peel off the product sticker and apply it to the spool. Otherwise, mark them so you know what type of filament ABS, PLA, etc. is on each spool.
Note, the photos may be distorted, these are normal width spools.
