Description
Replacement grille frames for Bang & Olufsen CX100 and CX50 speakers.
The original grille frames on these vintage speakers are quite brittle, and many have either cracked frames or broken spring tabs. The original grille frames are made of a rigid plastic, and require flexing of the tabs to install into the speaker cabinets.
These replacement grilles appear identical to the originals when covered in cloth, but are more durable and easy to to work with than the originals. Rather than relying on a flexible tab to hold the grille in place, the whole frame flexes slightly to install/remove. I tried designs with flexing tabs but they were not as durable, and the whole frame usually flexed anyway when installing/removing.
This design is easy to print without supports. The side openings of the mid/bass driver grilles are omitted to facilitate printing (IMO they don't make a difference acoustically). The inner edges of the back sides are chamfered to ease fitting the grilles between the mid/bass driver bezels and the speaker box.
